As I mentioned in the last post, I've been spending most of my weekends travelling. In addition to Lyon, I made a trip to Provençe to visit my aunt and uncle at their friends' house just outside of Avignon. It was a whirlwind trip to say the least. I took the train from Geneva to Avignon after work on a Friday and was back in Geneva by Sunday night. Despite being short it was lovely and relaxing. I wish I had more photos to show you, but I spent so much of my time eating food, chatting and drinking wine that there weren't many opportunities to explore the area around the house. It was a quick introduction to Provençe, but it whet my appetite and I hope to go back eventually.
We did spend some time at the Saturday market in Pernes les Fontaines where we picked up the bits and bobs that would become a couple of incredible meals. There are so many little towns scattered throughout the countryside and they are all, from what I could tell, adorable and quaint. Provençe is an incredibly picturesque part of the world.
It was also very nice to spend some time with my aunt and uncle. They live in Toronto so I don't get to see them very often normally. To see them in France was a somewhat unexpected treat. Also, their friends were so welcoming and I felt so spoiled. I remain grateful to all four of them for taking me in, feeding me well and allowing me to sleep-in!
